Priscilla Whiteside's Team in Training Pledgepage

Dear Friends & Family,

Greetings from Hanford, CA! On June 1, 2003, I have an amazing goal of running 26.2 miles in the Suzuki Rock and Roll marathon in San Diego!! Yes, it is a BIG goal for me - as I have been way too much of a couched potatoe lately. However, with the Lord's help, I will reach my goal and have a lifetime memory of knowing I could do it!

As of January 9, 2003, I am a member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. (see www.teamintraining.com). I have never run a marathon before, and training to run a marathon is a tremendous goal to achieve while Brian is away on Cruise again, defending and protecting the free world!

My fundraising goal for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society is $2,500. I would like to raise $5,000, even $10,000 for the cure if I am able.

I am training and fundraising extensively on behalf of a special honoree, Darya Oreizi. Darya is 8 years old and is in the 3rd grade at Garfield Elementary school in Clovis, CA. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphatic Leukemia (ALL) in April 1997. There have been many ups and downs, but what his parents tell me, the “worst” is behind them and they are hopeful for the future.

Whatever you are able to give counts—$2, $25, $50 or $100 or more. Your contribution is tax deductible and will benefit all members of the community that the Society serves. After your contribution is received, you will be sent a letter from the Leukemia Society, thanking you for your contribution with a receipt for your tax records. Via 'snail mail', I am enclosing a sponsor form & self addressed envelop to make your contribution easier.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma and improving the quality of life of patients and their families. Leukemia is the number one killing disease of children and affects ten times as many adults. The cause of leukemia remains unknown. The effectiveness of recently developed treatment methods and steady advances in research bring us closer to finding the cause of leukemia and related cancers and probable cures.

On behalf of Darya, as well as all the other leukemia patients, I appreciate your kindness and support.

Sincerely,
Priscilla B. Whiteside
